Although Armenia is a small country, surely, you won’t manage to be in every sight cause they are countless in Armenia. Every place, building, and even tree in Armenia has a great historical and cultural value.
One of such attractive places is Lastiver, Armenia. Lastiver is a few hours drive from the capital Yerevan. It’s an entertainment area which lies in the village Yenokavan, Tavush Province. The village is 10 kilometers away from the city of Ijevan.

Lastiver is a place also known as Park Village Lastiver. The name is translated from Armenian as “up to the raft”. Here you feel as if in a fairy tale or in your childhood dream. There are a few different miracles to see in this fantastic space. Let’s check them out.
Lastiver Cave
Once, the Lastiver cave was a refuge for the local people during the Mongol invasions. People made a ladder which takes to the cave. That ladder reminded of a raft. Here is where the name of the place comes from.
The cave of Lastiver is a two-storied structure which is located in a flat slope of a canyon. There are also some signs that seem as if the author tried to illustrate a wedding. They say that these signs were made during the isolation of the author. That’s why the cave is also known as Lastiver Anapat or Lastiver Desert (“anapat” is translated as “desert”).
The cave of Lastiver covers a history of centuries. You may find lots of sculptures on the walls of the cave. People say that these sculptures belong to the pagan era. Probably the real author of them is an unknown sculptor.
The Lastiver cave served as a place of worship for the Armenian Gods. A pictorial view opens from the cave to the waterfalls of Lastiver.
Lastiver Waterfall
The Tavush region is rich in rivers. These rivers come from high mountain sources. Maybe this is the reason that there are several big and small waterfalls in Lastiver.
These waterfalls of Lastiver may be considered as wonders of nature. The air around the waterfalls is cool, and the melodic sound of the water creates an ethereal atmosphere.
Lastiver Nature
It’s hard to put the beauty of Lastiver nature into words. However, I should try to introduce it. The nature of Lastiver is breathtaking. You look around and it’s green everywhere around. There are thick forests which provide fresh air.
Another interesting thing in the Lastiver forests is small wooden houses in the trees. You may feel as these are walking huts from fairy tales and there are fairies inside.
Lastiver Resort
The Lastiver Resort is a hotel in the area where you can stay if you want to spend some days in the heart of nature. This hotel is situated in a very scenic area. From here you may enjoy the fantastic view of the mountains covered with green nature. Near the hotel, at the edge of the cliff, there is an open-air swimming pool.
Hiking Lastiver
It’s not easy to hike Lastiver. The road leads you through the mountains and sometimes it’s hard to pass. Yet, a Lastiver Armenia tour is so enjoyable that you don’t even think about the difficult pass. Instead, you take the pleasure of picturesque views, breath fresh oxygen, and enjoy your hike.
You can get through the road to the caves only on foot. You walk a charming road leading you up to the great adventures. Walking around the Lastiver, you establish mental contact with nature. Your surroundings are so attractive, pure, and untouched, that it clears all the negativity and make you feel as in peace.
The Lastiver Armenia weather is humid and usually, there are fluffy clouds above the territory. The weather is relatively cool if we compare it to the lowlands. On the territory of Lastiver, there is also a bar. Generally, in the evenings you’ll meet a large bonfire, around which people gather, play on the guitar and sing their favorite songs in the company of one another.

Lastiver is the magic of the world. The caves, waterfalls, small rivers, wooden hovels, all of which are integral parts of the Lastiver nature, create a real fairy tale atmosphere.
