Tezharuyk monastery is located a short distance from the town of Hrazdan, in the village of Meghradzor, on a forested mountain rising on the right bank of the Marmarik river. Among the residents of Meghradzor the monastery is also known by the name "Tukh Manuk."
Tezharuyk monastery stands opposite the village of Meghradzor, on a forested volcanic summit of the Tsaghkunyats mountain range, at an altitude of 2000 m.
A Georgian-language donation inscription preserved on the church's southern wall is the main primary source for the complex's history. In it, Ivane identifies himself as the son of Sargis Mkhargrdzeli and the brother of the Amirspasalar Zakare, and states that he built "this monastery and church."
It was built in 1190 under the princes Ivane and Zakare Zakaryan. The church has side chambers on either side of its semicircular apse. Buried in the church are the tombstones of notable Armenian and Georgian state figures and benefactors.
Of the auxiliary structures only traces have survived, while the chapel (13th–14th c.) stands 15 m south of the church. The cemetery has likewise been destroyed.
