“Odzi Port” is located in the eastern part of Ardvi village in Lori Province, approximately 120 metres northwest of the chapel of Catholicos Hovhannes Odznetsi. It is officially classified as a natural and historical monument and was added to the State List of Natural Monuments of the Republic of Armenia in 2008.
According to the most widespread legend, Hovhannes Odznetsi was teaching his seven disciples on one side of the gorge. A dragon appeared on the opposite side and began terrorising the surrounding area. The disciples went one by one to investigate what was happening, but none of them returned. Finally, the hermit went in search of them, struck the dragon with his staff, and cursed it.
According to local folk belief, the water of the spring has healing properties.
Near the spring is also Portakar, or the “Navel Stone.” In the official state register, it is described as a stone that, according to popular belief, was visited by women who were unable to have children.
