Mount Aragats

Mount Aragats

Mount Aragats is the highest point in modern Armenia, rising to 4,090 m at its northern summit. An extinct volcano, it has four distinct peaks—north, west, east and south—arranged around a deep central crater. The south summit is the easiest and most popular climb, often done as a long day hike in summer. The slopes are dotted with alpine meadows, wildflowers and historic sites such as Amberd Fortress. The mountain holds deep cultural significance for Armenians and offers some of the country's finest high-altitude hiking and sweeping panoramic views.
