Mantash Waterfall is located on the slopes of Mount Aragats, about 16 km from the village of Megh Mantash in Shirak Province. It is formed on the right tributary of the river of the same name, where the water cascades from a height of 21 metres, creating a beautiful natural scene characteristic of the slopes of Aragats.
Mantash Waterfall is included on the list of State Nature Monuments of Armenia. It is a relatively little-known destination and is particularly interesting for hikers and nature lovers. On the way to the waterfall, you can also see the Mantash Reservoir.
The waterfall can also be reached via a hike starting from Lake Kari. The route begins at an altitude of around 3,200 metres and passes through the mountainous landscape of Mount Aragats. The routes offered by different organisations vary in length, but a popular option is approximately 14 km with a relative elevation gain of around 500 m.
The story behind the waterfall's name is also interesting. The village of Meghret Mantash was named in honour of the Armenian benefactor Alexander Mantashov. The nearby Mantash River and the waterfall were later named after him, and they still bear the same name today.
