Quba Mêrê Dîwanê, a Yazidi temple, stands in the village of Aknalich, in Armenia's Armavir region. Finished in 2019, it is the largest Yazidi temple in the world.
It was built to serve Armenia's Yazidis, the country's biggest ethnic minority. Made of pale stone and crowned by seven fluted domes, its design is inspired by Lalish, the holiest Yazidi site, in Iraq.
The temple is both a place of worship and a gathering point for the community, and visitors are welcome to learn about Yazidi faith, history and traditions — temple staff are often happy to show you around. It is a calm, striking sight among the farmland of the plain, and it pairs easily with nearby sights in Armavir such as the famous Saint Hripsime Church in Etchmiadzin.
