Lake Kari
Lake Kari ("Stone Lake") is a small alpine lake lying at roughly 3,200 m on the southern slopes of Mount Aragats. Fed by snow and ice melt, it stays cold and clear through the summer and is frozen for much of the year. A paved road climbs all the way to its shore, making it the usual starting point for hikes to Aragats's summits and a refreshing high-altitude stop in itself. Nearby stands a cosmic-ray research station. The crisp mountain air, surrounding meadows and panoramic views draw both hikers and day-trippers from Yerevan.
