Mountainous Armenia

Syunik region is the natural gate of the country located in the south-eastern part of Armenia. The region is famous for its natural minerals, historical and cultural monuments, impregnable mountains and nature.

During the four-day tour we will have hiking trails to the most famous, unknown paths of Syunik, from where civilization began thousands years ago.

Only here you will find transparent lakes hidden in the mountains, you will climb mountains from which it will be a divine gift to see the sunrise, you will see the oldest Stonehenge in the world, you will take the longest ropeway in the world.

All this will be spiced with ecologically clean, rural food, local dishes and wine.

Tour Plan

  1. Day 1: Day 1

    After a breakfast in the hotel, we start our adventurous road from Yerevan at  09:00. 

    We will see one of the strongest and most powerful regions of Armenia: Vayots Dzor. Тhe road you choose to take is famous for its caravanseries that were lying for the Silk road route. The first point we arrive in is Vorotnavank, which is a monastic complex, surrounded by a high stone wall for defense against foreign invasions and once housed workshops, stores, a seminary, resort, cemetery and an alms-house. We will admire the historic beauty of the monastery and will go on our tour reaching a point where we will start our hiking to Smbataberd fortress, that was founded in 5th century. We will continue hiking to Tsaghats Kar, Within the complex of Tsaghats Kar is Surb Hovhannes church built in 989, Surb Karapet church of the 10th century, and many other structures that are in ruins. Saint Karapet is a cupola hall type structure, with a sacristy in each of the four corners. Numerous khachkars may be seen around the monastery as well.

  2. Day 2: Day 2

    Few people know that the oldest Stonehenge in the world is in Armenia, where in Ancient times, Armenians have been eximining stars with their own theory and had much information about astrology. We will continue our way to the longest ropeway in the world: Tatever, which will take us to one of the most picterasque monastic complexes, which is considered to be an architectural masterpiece of Armenian Middle Ages. After the monastery we will continue our way to the Great Desert of Tatev, which was founded by monks in 608-1613.

    Overnight stay in Kapan.
