The "Gladzor University" historical-cultural reserve-museum is located in the village of Vernashen, Vayots Dzor province, in the building of the Surb Hakob church. It was established in 1984, on the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the founding of Gladzor University.
The museum's building, the Surb Hakob church, is itself a historical monument. The church is located in the central part of the village of Vernashen and forms part of the historical setting associated with the medieval spiritual life of Vayots Dzor.
The reserve-museum's officially defined activity concerns the preservation, study, and popularization of the historical-cultural monuments located on its territory and the cultural values connected with the activity of Gladzor University.
