Hike Armenia's ancient highlands on this 8-day adventure through Caucasus peaks, alpine meadows, and remote villages. Perfect for summer trekking and cultural discovery.
Start exploring Yerevan, Armenia's capital city and one of the oldest cities in the world. Visit the Victory Park and Mother Armenia monument. Then continue to visit one of the world's greatest collections of medieval manuscripts - the Matenadaran. Visit Cascade Complex, home to the Sculpture Park and the Cafesjian Center for the Arts. The program then continues with a walking tour of the city center. Then drive to visit Echmiatsin - the administrative and spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Visit Mother Cathedral and museum inside the church, where the main relics of Armenian Apostolic Church are preserved. On the way back to Yerevan stop at the 7th-century ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral.
Drive to Garni village. We will start our hiking in Azat Canyon, surrounded by breathtaking views and natural beauty, such as the Symphony of Stones Basalt Columns. Then visit one of Armenia's oldest buildings, the 1st-century Garni Pagan Temple. Afterwards visit a local village house for a delicious lunch and participate in the traditional Armenian bread-making process. Drive to visit the 13th century cave Monastery of Geghard (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Inside the monastery, we will listen to the mesmerising chanting of a female choir. Then drive to Yeghegis. Start the hike to Tsakhats Qar - a fortress dating back to the 10th-11th centuries, then continue to Smbataberd. Return to the hotel and drive to Dilijan via Vardenyats Pass and have a stop at Lake Sevan. Visit the Sevanavank Monastery, beautifully situated on a peninsula overlooking the lake. Continue to Dilijan. Hiking distance: 13 km. Hiking duration: 5.5h. Altitude Gains & Losses: +540m -520m.
Hike in Dilijan National Park. Starting in the town of Dilijan, the moderate trek leads through shaded woodland paths, streams and picturesque landscapes, before arriving at the Haghartsin Monastery. The hike is approximately 12-14 km and offers both natural beauty and cultural insight, making it a perfect combination of adventure and heritage. Hiking distance: 13 km. Hiking duration: 5 h. Altitude Gains & Losses: +450m -500m.
Drive to Yenoqavan village to visit Apaga camp. Here, you will enjoy a horse riding tour through the scenic landscapes of the Ijevan Mountains. Then drive to Byurakan for an overnight stay. On the way, stop at Saghmosavank Monastery.
Embark on a challenging trek to the Southern summit of Mount Aragats. Aragats is the highest peak in Armenia and has four summits. The Southern summit is the most accessible, offering beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and Ararat plain. Return to Yerevan. Trekking distance: 14 km. Hiking duration: 7 h. Altitude Gains & Losses: +680m -100m +300 m -800m.
