“They told us, that the food will be ready in 30-40 minutes, but it took 1,5 hour”

“Water is more expensive than Coke 😀 Review the menu in Yerevan cheaper than here. Hopefully next time I see a change in the menu.”

“Carahunge is warm, authentic, and absolutely delicious. The food is homemade with love — especially the tolma and khashlama. The historic building from 1919 adds so much charm, and the staff is incredibly welcoming. A must-visit if you're in Lori!”

“We have reserved upfront and they accepted our order. After our arrival we waited more than an hour for even salads, pizza and drinks. It’s really unexpected.”

“My family and I went to this restaurant for dinner. The decor seemed elegant to us, but this is, of course, a matter of taste. We ordered a fish dish. The fish was prepared and served exquisitely, I felt like a real gourmet. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of service - the waiters were polite. I would like more variety on the children's menu - it would be great for a young son to have more choice. We'll definitely be back!”

“Carahunge is a restaurant in Stepanavan, Lori province, Armenia. We made our own experience there in November 2023, I want to share. On a Friday evening, hungry as we were, we went to the otherwise empty restaurant and ordered food. It began with the good local beer (Kilikia) which put us in elevated expectations. Then came the food and slowly our mood went sour. We were maltreated by a summer salad with old and bad smelling feta. A Caesar salad, not tasty, was worsened by dried out chicken meat. In summary, of all the food we got, nothing was tasty, we were just eating joylessly because we were hungry. Then came the signature dish of the restaurant: The Carahunge Mix. It was a mix of different kinds of grilled meat, which is in fact one of the national dishes of Armenia, Chorovatz. So what could go wrong, every Armenian family can prepare it in a tasty way. When it arrived we could not believe our eyes: Dried old meat, not directly from the grill but heated up, burnt to black on most parts (have a look at our photo). After a short poking and each of us carefully trying one bite we gave up. Even with being hungry, there was no chance we could eat it. We called the server and he sent us a young man who said he was the manager. He just looked at the meat and said everything was fine. Unbelieving his reaction we asked him to taste the meat. It was obvious, that he knew about the miserable quality of the food, he was selling us. Under no circumstances he wanted to taste the food himself. The situation was not getting better, when there was no excuse and he did not offer to bring something else eatable. What we learned this evening was the following: When you consider dining in Carahunge restaurant, Stepanavan, think twice and be aware that it is possible, even probable, you get at its best food of mediocre quality. Moreover, some parts of the food could be inedible, in our case the signature dish of the restaurant! On top of that the ‚management' shows lack of professionalism. In addressing a client in need there was no kind word of excuse, no offering of a solution to a real problem for the client. We were made to believe that it was our problem alone and by that we paid the full price. The Carahunge Restaurant, Stepanavan, fails in my opinion the most basic requirements to a Restaurant of good standing.”

“The middle Eastern food was delicious, some of the best in Armenia!!!, Service was good, and bathrooms were clean and had no smell. There was a library (that you can read books from), and a chess board that you can play with while waiting for the food to come.”
