“Perfectly baked crust, rich flavours, and fresh ingredients that remind you what real pizza should taste like. Every bite shows care and craftsmanship. Whether you’re local or just passing through, this place is a must try.”
“It is the only pizzeria in the whole Syunik region. Pizzas 🍕 are delicious and made with Italian ingredients. Both kids are super nice. We enjoyed it. We recommend.”
“Let me start with the obvious. Yes, we got pizza delivered from Meghri to Yerevan. Yes, that's a 6+-hour, 371-kilometre journey. And no, this is not a joke. You might think this was about novelty: "Look at us. We got the southernmost pizza in Armenia hand-delivered to the capital." But it wasn't that. We ordered from Pokr Tagh Pizza because we kept hearing quiet rumblings that in a town known more for pomegranates, figs, and beautiful views of the Araks River, a group of friends were making truly excellent pizza. We were curious. And we were not disappointed. We ordered the Margherita, which is often used as a test. It's the cleanest read on a pizzeria's intentions since there's nothing to hide behind. This one was outstanding. It had a bright, flavourful tomato base, cheese that hit all the right notes without overpowering, and a crust with just enough structure and chew. It was cooked to a golden finish and had the right consistency all the way through. The ratio of sauce to cheese was spot on. Then there was the box. And, yes, I don't usually talk about boxes, but this one had a beautifully printed map of Syunik, featuring Meghri and other towns and cities in bold colours. It immediately brought to mind those vintage pizza boxes in the States that proudly showcased cartoon maps of Italy. The carbon copy receipt was stapled right on top of the box, just like in old-school pizzerias; it felt familiar and totally authentic. All of this from a town most people here in Yerevan (and, for that matter, the rest of Armenia and the diaspora) might struggle to locate on a map. That's what makes it special. Meghri doesn't usually get credit; it's far, it's quiet, and it's easy to overlook. But the people of Pokr Tagh decided that wasn't a reason to aim low--quite the opposite. They decided to make some of the best pizza in the country and share it with the rest of us. I've eaten pizza in New York, across Europe, and plenty of places that take themselves far too seriously. I've also eaten at holes in the wall--the kind of places I prefer, and where good pizza speaks for itself (shout out Stella's Pizza in Watertown, MA). Pokr Tagh held its own, not because it tries to be flashy or follow trends, but because it knows exactly what it’s doing. And it does it well. Really well. I want to stress here that this wasn't just good pizza for Armenia. It was some of the best pizza I've had. Period. And if you're ever in Meghri or manage to get a delivery to Yerevan or anywhere else in Armenia, please don’t hesitate. Order it. Appreciate it. Then take a moment to think about how that little neighbourhood in Meghst might be doing something bigger than anyone expected. Pokr Tagh Pizza is the real deal.”
“The pizza was absolutely delicious. The crust was thin, perfectly crispy, and had that satisfying crunch you can only get from fresh dough baked just right. The toppings were fresh and flavorful—nothing fancy, just honest, quality ingredients done well. If you’re in Meghri and craving something tasty, definitely give this place a try. It’s not just good “for a small town”—it’s just genuinely great pizza.”
