Stoppen 1.Kloster Suni
Suni Monastery
Experience the raw beauty of Syunik on a journey through Armenia’s premier historic landmarks and alpine vistas. From the spiritual serenity of Suni Monastery to its many cultural gems, this expedition offers a deep dive into the soul of the Armenian highlands. ## The route begins by unveiling the mysteries of Karahunj, an ancient observatory that predates Stonehenge, before pausing at the mist-veiled Shaki Waterfall. From the heights of the Goris viewpoint, you’ll look out over a cityscape of stone before venturing into the troglodyte world of Khndzoresk, where a swinging bridge connects you to a fascinating history of cave-dwelling life. ## Descending toward the Iranian border, the journey crosses the dramatic Meghri Pass to reach the town of Meghri. Here, the spiritual heritage of the south comes alive within the walls of Anapatstanats Monastery, Surb Astvatsatsin, and Surb Hovhannes, all shadowed by the ancient Meghri Fortress with its sweeping views of the Araks Valley. ## The adventure culminates with the "Jewel of the South": the Tatev Monastery. You’ll soar across the Vorotan Canyon on the Wings of Tatev—the world’s longest reversible aerial tramway—for a bird's-eye view of the abyss. After a final scenic stop near Svarants, the journey mellows in the Vayots Dzor region with a tasting at the Areni Wine Factory, celebrating 6,000 years of Armenian winemaking traditions.
