Goris is considered to be the most visited destination for the tourists because one of the wonders of Armenia is here. The one and only Tatev Monastery Complex, The Devil’s Bridge and The Tatev Ropeway are situated here. It is not a secret that Tatev is a fascinating place that attracts everyone.

There you can see an ancient oil mill with stone grinders, mighty fortress walls upon massive cliffs, the swinging pillar which has a unique medieval structure: the last saint of the Armenian Church; ancient frescoes by European master and of course, the tomb of Grigor Tatevatsi.

There you will be the witness of Syunik's extraordinary nature and will discover the historic treasures of Goris. The Tatev Monastery was the cultural center of Armenia. Nowadays this is a must place for tourists and it is not possible to come here and not to want to see it again. In fact, in 1995 the Tatev Monastery complex was included in the list of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites.

Tatev monastery’s history dates back to the 9th century. Undoubtedly, this monastery is one of the oldest and the most famous complexes in Armenian history. It was built in 895. The complex has three churches; the Poghos Petros Cathedral, St Astvatsatsin, and St Grigor Churches, the Grigor Tatevatsi mausoleum, “Gavazan” monument and other historical buildings.

The next popular place among tourists is the Tatev Ropeway; it is the longest ropeway in the world (5, 7 km). The Tatev Gateway invites you to fly above the gorge on the Wings of Tatev. There is an audio guide that will tell you the Tatev Monastery’s history. From the cableway, you will be the witness of the most picturesque and impressive Nature of Armenia.

The Wings of Tatev is a 5.7 km (3.5 mi) cableway between Halidzor and the Tatev Monastery in Armenia. It is the longest aerial tramway; the construction was finished on 16 October 2010.

Wings of Tatev is the shortest, most picturesque and impressive route to Tatev Monastery. The cable car travels at a speed of 37 km (23 mi) per hour and a one-way journey takes 12 minutes of unforgettable flight above the ravine of the fierce Vorotan River. At its highest point over the gorge, the car travels 320 m (1,050 ft) above ground level. The Wings of Tatev is the longest reversible cableway in the world (5752 m), which was recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.

During the flight, the audio guide presents the history and all the important things about the wings of Tatev. The audio-guide tells the information in three languages Armenian, Russian and English. During your whole tour, you have the opportunity to choose five languages English, Armenian, German, Russian and French and audio guides. You can find the devices in the Ropeway ticket box. The movable device is linked to the map which gives an opportunity to orientate in the area. 

The Devil’s Bridge

If you are a curious and brave person, interested in discovering mysteries, this place has a special suggestion for you. “Satani Kamurj” or Satan’s Bridge it’s a natural bridge (length 30m, width 60m) As if Mother Nature herself made this wonderful, meantime breathtaking view. One of the wonders of nature is situated in a deep canyon, near the Vorotan River and Tatev Monastery. The Devil’s Bridge is considered to be the real sample of Mother Nature; it was formed due to decades and under the constant influence of water and wind. The natural bridge’s width is 60m, the height is 30m. Near the bridge, you can see warm springs with beautiful surroundings. From the rivers, you can see the mysterious canyons.

So, the most beautiful nature, deep canyons, mountain chains, and Mountain Rivers, all these things you can find in Syunik. Where you can fly, get wings and discover mysteries of Armenia.
